History
Blackheath Lacrosse Club was founded in the 1950s as a club for women interested in the game of lacrosse. The Club enjoyed considerable success in the 60s and 70s with close links to a PE college in the Dartford area of Kent that is now closed. In the late 90s the Club underwent a rebirth and period of tremendous growth. Today we compete in the Premier and the First Division of the South and East Women's Lacrosse League. The Club fields two league sides (the Legends and the Storm) in order to cater for different levels of commitment and standards of play, combining the two into one team for friendly matches and tournaments, including London's Rosebowl tournament which Blackheath won in the 2005/06 season.
Each year Blackheath typically sends a number of players on to play for Kent County. At the regional level Blackheath has contributed a handful of players in the last several years to East Region and in recent years one or two Blackheath players have been selected for Home Nations' international squads.
Blackheath were the 2001 and 2002 winners of the Passau Open Tournament in Germany, finished runners-up at the 10th Berlin Open tournament in 2003, but brought home the trophy by winning the 11th Berlin Open in 2004. In August 2006 Blackheath were runners up in the 4th international six a-side tournament in Madrid.
